the folk tunic
I have been working with cloth for years. I enjoy working with large expanses of cloth, big rectangles, squares and love the way the pure shapes drape around the body. Some cloths are best left intact. This piece is a rectangle folded along the lengthwise grain. With a minimal number of cuts to allow the human body to participate in the spirit of the cloth, here is the Folk Tunic. Depending on the type of cloth used, it drapes around the human form the way the wearer wants it. You can wear it as a flowing tunic or, as a coat, by lifting the front hem and draping it around the neck.
